Canberra’s climate is very special! It can contribute to allergies and skin issues for many. 

Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Pollen
    Canberra has a very high concentration of pollen-producing plants, especially during Spring, triggering allergic reactions to those who are sensitive to pollen, itchy eyes being one of the main issues.

  2. Dry climate
    Canberra has a dry climate with low humidity levels, this can cause dryness and irritation to the skin. Lack of moisture in the air can worsen conditions like eczema or dermatitis.

  3. Air quality
    Not often but occasionally Canberra can experience poor air quality due to bushfires or pollution with again can trigger allergies and skin reactions

  4. Temperature extremes
    This one is HUGE I notice coming from England. The winters are cold and the summers are extremely hot (although late start this year)
